Take it slow when you switch to a new cat or dog food or life stage. Mix your current food with the new pet food, gradually increasing over 10-14 days. We also recommend adding a prebiotic with the food to help out, which is complimentary with your first order.
You will receive a transition guide in your first order.
Generally, your adult cat or dog needs to be fed 2-3% of their body weight daily across 1-2 meals.
Your kitten or puppy needs to be fed 4-6% of their body weight daily, across 2-4 meals.
You can check out our feeding guide, which will also be included in your first order.
Did you know that most salmonella recalls have come from dry food? Salmonella is not a raw problem, but a pet food problem.
Most pets can safely eat human-grade fresh food without the risk of salmonella and E.coli.
Our pets’ stomachs are much stronger than ours and are equipped to handle bacteria just like wolves. Their digestive tracts are shorter & more acidic, and thus the risk for bacterial illnesses is low—salmonella only really survives in higher pH conditions (4-8+) and requires 12 hours to reach incubation. The hydrochloric acid in a carnivore’s (yes, your pet's) stomach is a perfect protective enzyme against these pathogens, as bacteria is killed and passed within 4-6 hours as waste.
Also we only source human-grade ingredients that follow strict standards, unlike pet grade ingredients, to ensure it is safe for your pet.
When handling any raw food (including for yourself), wash your hands, utensils and bowls after serving and only feed food in its shelf-life.
Of course! Generally pet parents like to feed all meals or 50 / 50. Both help your pet live happy, healthy and adventurous lives.
Our recipes are formulated by a pet nutritionist to be complete and balanced, so you don't need to add anything. However, you know your pet best, so feel free to add supplements beneficial for your individual pet.
You can lightly sear our meals for easier transition, however, we don't recommend microwaving or cooking our meals long-term as our Chicken and Duck recipes contain ground bone which can splinter when heated.
Loose stools are normal during the transition phase. Just like how we can get traveler’s diarrhea, your pet needs time to adapt to processing a new type of food. Loose stools when changing to a healthy diet are also signs of detoxing, so be patient and consider using Slippery Elm Bark Powder for faster recovery.
This is expected! Raw meals have a much higher water content compared to kibble so your pet doesn’t need to drink as much water outside of meals.
They can stay in the freezer for up to 6 months.
When thawed, consume the meals within 48 hours.
